Giving the People (You) What They Want

So, if you're following us on Twitter - or X as of late - you might remember that we recently put out a poll asking our followers what the biggest barrier was between them and memorizing the Quran. Take a look at the results below👇

We'll have to admit these results surprised us, to say the least. Due to work, school and other responsibilities, we honestly thought that the majority of you would have voted for time as the biggest barrier - but motivation?! That just didn't sit right with us. And it got us thinking... WHY don't people feel motivated enough to start memorizing or memorize more of the Quran? What's missing? And more importantly, how can we help?🤔

It suddenly dawned on us that maybe the motivation is lacking because of a knowledge gap; maybe you're someone who isn't aware of JUST HOW MUCH you have to gain from memorizing the Quran. How immersing yourself in it can transform your life into something extraordinary.✨ It's the ultimate treasure chest and a boundless one at that! We should be proud to pursue knowledge and increase in goodness, and memorizing the Quran is a part of that. It's not too late, not too hard and not limited to specific people. Memorizing the Quran is for everyone.

So, Tarteel Community, you wanted motivation and we're giving it to you! This is your invitation to embark on that journey of memorizing the Quran.💌📖 It may seem daunting, but with Allah by our side, every mountain can be moved!

The Divine Connection: Nurture Your Soul🌱

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "The best among you are those who learn the Quran and teach it to others" (Bukhari). Memorizing the Quran isn't just an intellectual exercise, it's an enriching spiritual experience that draws you nearer to Allah (SWT).

Through this journey, you're not just memorizing words, but delving into Allah's divine message. It's a unique spiritual map that guides you in your everyday life. Every Surah and verse holds lessons, stories, and wisdom to apply in our lives.

The Mental Gym: Sharpen Your Mind🧠

If you're into brain exercises and cognitive health, then the Quran is the perfect mental gym for you. Studies have shown that engaging in challenging mental activities, like memorizing the Quran, can boost memory, improve focus, and enhance cognitive functions.

As Allah says in the Quran, "Indeed, We have made this (Quran) easy to understand and remember" (Quran, 54:17). So, not only does this process strengthen your mind, but it's also a testimony of Allah's promise to us.

An added benefit? You'll be more engaged in congregational prayers knowing exactly what's being recited!🕌

A Path to Emotional Wellbeing❤️‍🩹

The journey of memorizing the Quran is also incredibly therapeutic. Its melodious recitation can alleviate anxiety, bring peace, and provide comfort during difficult times. The Quran teaches us, "And We send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers" (Quran, 17:82). This healing extends to our minds and hearts, providing a sense of serenity and peace.

The Ultimate Reward: Heaps of Hasanat⚖️

Imagine getting ten rewards for each letter of the Quran you recite. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, "Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah will receive a Hasanah (good deed) ... and the Hasanah is multiplied by ten" (Tirmidhi). Now, picture the Hasanat you'd gather by memorizing the entire Quran. MashaAllah!

Where There's a Will, There's a Way🤲

Maybe you're thinking, "But I don't have a strong memory", or "I'm too old to start memorizing". Let's bust those myths right here, right now. Age or memory strength are not barriers to memorizing the Quran. Allah says, "And We have certainly made the Quran easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember?" (Quran, 54:17). This verse is a divine assurance that the Quran has been made easy for us to memorize.

And if you need a little more encouragement, Shaykh Musa Abuzaghleh is here to give you all the motivation and energy you need in the very first episode of our NEW podcast, re:Verses. Check it out!

Getting Started🚀

Where to start? Begin with Surah Al-Fatiha, the first chapter, and then proceed with the last Juz, which contains shorter Surahs. Consistency is key! You're making progress even if you memorize just a few verses each day.

Remember, this journey isn't a race. It's a personal, spiritual voyage between you and Allah. Whether it takes you a year or a decade to memorize the Quran, each step you take is a step towards Jannah (Paradise).

Conclusion: Embrace the Journey🏆

So, are you ready to start this enriching journey of Quran memorization? Don't think of it as a tedious task, but rather an opportunity to enhance your cognitive health, emotional wellbeing, and most importantly, nurture your relationship with Allah.

Every verse you learn by heart is a jewel added to your crown in Jannah. Every moment spent on this journey is a testament to your love for Allah and His message. And remember, Allah is with those who persevere. As He states in the Quran, "And those who strive for Us - We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allah is with the doers of good" (Quran, 29:69).
