About the 15th of Sha'ban
The month of Sha'ban is a blessed month, overlooked by many. Our beloved messenger ﷺ would fast most of Sha'ban so when his deeds are taken up to our Lord, he would be in a state of fasting.
"The Messenger of Allah did not fast in any month of the year more than he did in Shaban. He used to fast all of Shaban."
-Sunan an-Nasa’i 2180
In a few days, on March 27th, 2021 at Maghreb time, the night of the 15th of Sha’ban begins. The Sahaba, companions of our Prophet ﷺ, would ensure they performed their rituals when others neglected the most. Hence, the month of Sha'ban should be a motivation to reap the rewards, when most people do not pay attention.
Regarding the significance of this day, there are several Hadiths authenticated by Sheikh Muhammad Nasiruddin al-Albani and made weak or unauthenticated by other scholars. The most authentic opinion of scholars is that the 15th of Sha'ban is a blessed night, where Allah SWT looks upon his creation and forgives them all except for one who has a dispute with another Muslim or non-Muslim (i.e. malice) .
Abu Musa reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, Allah looks down in middle night of Sha’ban and he forgives all of his creatures, except for an idolater or one harboring malice.”

Practices on the Night of the 15th Sha'ban
Scholars have agreed to avoid any additional ritual practices attributed to this day. Any practices intended for only the 15th of Sha'ban, scholars consider them innovations (Bid'as). To avoid this, we should make our intentions sincere by following general practices such as fasting on the 13th,14th, and 15th of every month . Meaning, if you pray two Rakat after Isha prayer every night, you should do the same, and no more on the 15th, otherwise you could intend to introduce an innovation.
